Owner Occupancy
Now you can file for the Owner Occupancy Credit using our NEW SmartFile Paperless web-based filing system!
Every property owner that resides in their own home is eligible for an Owner Occupancy tax reduction on their property tax bill. Homeowners must complete an application for this reduction. This is often taken care of at the time of transfer of real estate. To receive the owner occupancy tax reduction, you must own and occupy your home as your principal place of residence (domicile) on January 1 of the year you file for the reduction. A homeowner and spouse are entitled to this tax reduction on their primary residence.
Please call the Auditor’s Office at (440) 350-2532 or email [email protected] for further information.
To file an application, please complete form and return to our office or you have the option to file electronically.
