Please do not leave inspection requests on voice mail or submit online.

Plans and Permits Applications can be submitted through our website, through [email protected] or deposited into the drop box at the entrance of 105 Main St, Painesville. For specific questions, please contact the Building Department at 440-350-2636.

The Lake County Building Department is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the applicable State of Ohio Building codes for residential, commercial, and industrial construction in its Jurisdiction.  These Building Codes provide the department’s inspectors with guidelines to help ensure the health and welfare of the residents. Certified by the State of Ohio, the Building Department provides Plan Reviews, Inspection Services, and Building, Electrical, Mechanical and Fire Protection Code information.      

We are honored to be chosen for the 2016 David A. Smith Building Department of the Year Award from the Ohio Board of Building Standards. We would like to thank everyone for their continued support through the many changes over the past year.
