Municipal Courts

Lake County is home to three municipal courts located in Mentor, Painesville, and Willoughby. These Courts have jurisdiction over cases involving traffic, non-traffic misdemeanors, evictions, and small civil claims. Small claims are defined as a case where the amount in controversy does not exceed $15,000
