Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP)
The Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) is a federal initiative designed to help individuals and families who are struggling to pay rent or utilities due to financial hardship, often as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program provides funds to eligible households to cover past-due rent, future rent, utility bills, and related housing expenses. ERAP is administered at the state or local level, allowing for tailored implementation to meet the needs of specific communities. It aims to prevent evictions and promote housing stability, ensuring that vulnerable populations can remain in their homes during periods of economic uncertainty.
